Ann Beachy, a member of the Mishawaka Christian Athletic Club, has committed to continue her athletic and academic careers for the 2009-2010 season at
Bethel College (NAIA) in Mishawaka, IN. Ann will compete in two sports starting with
soccer (Head Coach Pete Morey) in the fall and then join the
basketball program (Head Coach Jody Martinez) after the soccer season is completed.
Ann played her freshman and senior years of basketball for the MCAC. Her senior year she averaged 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals a game. Her season high was 19 points vs. LaLumiere School with 8 rebounds. Her career high in steals was 9 vs. Victory Christian Academy. MCAC went 24-13 and finished ranked 3rd in the ICBA state rankings and finished 4th in the state tournament. Ann started 35 games and was named to the ICBA North All-Star Team her first year. Ann did play competitive soccer in the Junior Irish Soccer Program and played varsity (basketball and soccer) at Granger Christian High School during her high school years.
"Ann has the opportunity to help us right away and I am excited to have her for the fall,” states Bethel College Soccer Head Coach Pete Morey. “She is a very intelligent player and a tenacious competitor. I would expect that she will only continue to improve as she makes the jump to the collegiate level."
“Ann is a quality young lady on and off the court,” states Bethel College Basketball Head Coach, Jody Martinez. “Her attitude is one that I like to coach, and she has great work ethic that will make us a better team. We are blessed to have Ann join the Lady Pilots (
NAIA #16) family at Bethel College for the 2009 season.”
"I am looking forward to being part of the BC community”, states Ann Beachy. “The professors that I've met and the friends that I have made, on campus, are wonderful people. I am excited to be going to a place where I'll be challenged to succeed and be encouraged in my faith in Jesus Christ. I love the game of soccer. I often dream of playing at a higher level and I train hard to increase my intensity. Playing soccer for BC is an awesome opportunity for me because I will be living out my dreams, for the glory of God. Bethel has an amazing women's basketball program. I'm anticipating the next season and know that I will be able to improve my game a lot. I am positive that I will grow spiritually and mentally as well. I'm up for a challenge!"
