Future Plans

I plan to be a billionaire with a huge house, a ginormous pantry and fridge for food, and possibly own a pet pig like a dog…just kidding! Even though that would be pretty neat. Encourage as much as possible. Keep learning and allow yourself to grow. Remember that your team is your family and your brothers/sisters in Christ. Inspire others by your attitude and work ethic. Do not let the fear of failure get in your way. Laugh often. Make countless memories. Trust God. This time you have been given to spend with your team goes by fast, enjoy every second, and remember tomorrow is not promised so DO YOUR BEST TODAY.

Favorite Bible Verse
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
I picked this verse because it tells me that God will fulfill His plans for me, whatever they may be. Also, it was my friend Olivia Berryman’s confirmation verse so it serves as a reminder that although she’s no longer here, God is still using her Christlike kindness and compassion to do His work in the people who knew her.

Future Plans
My future plans include attending an engineering school to become a civil engineer. At the moment I’m trying to decide between Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Trine University. I also hope to one day become the woman God intends for me to be and own at least two huskies (and possibly other dogs).

Advice For The Team
My basketball advice to the team is to give 110% all the time and don’t beat yourself up when you make mistakes, because everybody does that. More importantly, my life advice is to be yourself and enjoy life. Don’t let anyone tell
you what you can or can’t do. And remember to be your OWN source of happiness.

Favorite Verse

Matthew 9:22-

And Jesus said to her, "Take heart, daughter, your faith as made you whole."

Future Plans

It looks like I'll be attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, playing Right Side on the the Lady Archer's volleyball team. Lord willing, I will major in Children's Ministry with a focus on Addictions Counselling. If that doesn't pan out, I plan on buying a tree house in Wisconsin and becoming a foster parent to approximately 20 cats and one hamster, as well as becoming the first person to live solely off of acorns, dandelions, and milk (for the cats). I'll let you know how it goes.

Advice for the Team

I am proud to be a part of a team that works hard, encourages one another and wins their division at the Midwest Championship! Ladies, never take a game or practice for granted...before you know it you'll be playing your last game as a highschooler, wondering were the time went, like I am tonight. Play so that when you get off the court you have no regrets!  Remember that if you want to succeed, you have to put in 100 percent effort training at practice, and go home and give 100 percent effort practicing in front of your mirror. Playing For His Glory means giving your best, putting mistakes behind you and giving God all the honor, so let's never stop playing For His Glory!

Favorite verse

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:14-16

Future Plans

After high school I plan to attend college, but I’m not sure what school I’ll go to yet. I currently work at a preschool and I absolutely love it! I know God is calling me to work with kids, but I don’t know what exact area He is calling me to work in just yet.

Advice for the team

To my team, you girls are so amazing and I’m extremely blessed to have been able to play my senior year with all of you. During a game if you’re down, don’t give up! Keep playing with all you’ve got. Always put your trust in the Lord and let your strength come from Him. Keep playing from your hearts and giving all the glory to God, on and off the court! And don’t take anything for granted. Things come and go so quickly, so make sure you’re enjoying every minute and always thank the Lord for what He’s blessed you with!

Following high school, I plan to attend a four-year Christian college to earn a degree in nursing with a minor in American Sign Language.  I have studied this amazing language for almost three years now and have come to thoroughly enjoy it.  After earning a degree in nursing, I would like to specialize in respiratory therapy.  I also have a desire to be part of short-term missions in Africa.  However, my heart’s greatest desire is to do the will of God and I will go wherever He leads.

Future Plans

I am not sure which college I will go to, but I am hoping that wherever I end up at I will be able to play basketball. I am strongly considering majoring in Computer Science, but God could have a completely different plan for my life and I am excited to find out what that plan is.

Advice For The Team

As a team, always have each other’s backs on and off the court. Don’t ever give up, whether you’re losing by 3 or 30 points. Don’t leave anything on the court besides sweat and skin. And remember to put God first in all that you do.

    Favorite verse

    1 Corinthians 12: 9-10

He said to me “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest

on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in

persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    Future plans

I am strongly considering Taylor University, Bethel College, IWU or… somewhere else and for

sure majoring in Music. Maybe Psychology, Youth ministry, professional sand castle making…or

whatever else God has planned. It doesn’t matter what I plan, God’s will trumps mine every time.

Advice for the team

Your teammates are your family on and off the court. Be committed, be forgiving, have patience, trust, sacrifice for each other and LOVE. Cherish the moments you have with those around you because time flies and next thing you know you’re a senior! Listen to your coach! Most of the time he (dad) or she (mom) knows what they’re talking about. ;) Always remember to play for HIS glory, whether you are sitting on the bench with an injury or in the game, whether you play 30 seconds or 32 minutes. Remember the game of volleyball or basketball is just a tool to use for God’s kingdom. God #1 Team #2 and you #3. And don’t go a day without laughing…even if that means doing the hokey pokey at practice.

    Hebrews 12:1-17

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

I love this passage because it shows you how to run the Christian race/life

    Favorite Verse

    Colossians 3:23

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man.

Many times in life I find myself complaining about having to do something that I don't personally

enjoy doing, so I tend to do a half way job, just enough to make whoever happy. This verse

reminds me that in ALL I do I should be giving 110% not 50%. Because I should be working for the LORD, not for man.

Future plans

I am not 100% sure how it all fits together yet but I feel that God is calling me to work with children as well as doing something with prosthetics (a device that replaces a missing body part, such as an arm or a leg). I would also like to get involved in public speaking so that I can be an encouragement to others and share the love of God. :) Whether that be opening a clinic for children, working with those overseas who don't have the opportunity to get a prosthetic, talking at various hospitals or schools...I just don't know yet. But I do know God has a plan for me and I am excited to see what it is. Another exciting part of my future plan is to continue my training in paralympic sitting volleyball and hopefully represent our country in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Advice for the team

Not only make your time with MCAC a time you play the sport you love, but make it a time where you strive to grow in your relationship with the Lord. Be willing to better yourself and listen to what your coaches tell you. When a coach tells you something they are not only trying to make you a better player, but they are giving up time their time for you because they care about you and want to see you succeed. Be sure to give them the same respect, even if you think something they have you do is silly and won’t help, they have a reason for telling you to do it. Also be committed to your team, on the MCAC program when you join a team you become part of the family. There will be ups and downs just like at home. But don't ever give up on them. The most important thing to remember in all that you do is to keep the Lord your #1 focus and do everything 4 HIS GLORY!!

  Proverbs 5:20-23

My son, pay attention to my words; listen closely to my sayings. Don’t lose sight of them; keep them

within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to one’s whole body. Guard

your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

  Future plans

I plan on attending Bethel College and possibly majoring in Elementary Education or Social Work or

Missions or Psychology or Music Education or underwater basket weaving or maybe not any of those… I can plan all I want, but God’s will usually tops mine.

Advice for the team

Be dedicated to your teammates, they’re your family. Give your all for them no matter what it takes. If you break your arm, rip off your cast and play anyway ;) Treasure every moment you have, it goes by a whole lot faster than you think… Our team has got something really special going on that you won’t be able to find anywhere else, cherish it.

  Psalm 23:1

  Advice for the team

Follow your dreams and your skills. Don’t just go with the flow and do what everyone says is the one right way of doing things if it’s not what God wants you to do. And whatever you do, don’t lose your sense of humor. Laugh long and prosper.

Future plans

After graduating, I am strongly considering attending Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I plan to study English, writing, and perhaps music.

  Favorite verse

  2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on

  me.”

  Future plans

I would like to play basketball in the future in college, but at this time, my future plans include learning Culinary Arts, possibly in Chicago.

Advice for the team

Always listen to the coach because he knows what he’s doing and he knows that you have potential to be a great basketball player. If it seems that he is hard on you, it is because he loves you guys, cares about you all, and wants you to be a better person. Also, always glorify God on and off the court in all you do. Try not to get frustrated because when you do you don’t play to the best ability that God gave you and you don’t glorify Him. You also need to enjoy your teammates around you and spend as much time with them as possible, because the relationships you make are important and the time is short and flies by fast.

  Favorite verse

  2 Corinthians 12:9-10

And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."

Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for

Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Future plans

After graduation, my desire is to work with children. I am seeking God's will on how I can pursue that. This next fall I will be starting my firefighter one and two training. I will be volunteering with Niles Charter Township Fire Department.

Advice for the team

To my Wildcats: ALWAYS play for HIS glory, and never give up! When you’re breathing so hard you think you’re going to pass out, when your body hurts so bad that you just want to stop, keep going, have a good attitude, and have fun!

  Favorite verse

  1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 7. (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-

seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices

with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

  Future plans

My plans for the future would be to continue working in the Fashion Retail business. I am gaining experience to move into Management and to learn Merchandising as well as future buying. I see myself as a Wardrobe Consultant and possible Personal Shopper or Retail Buyer. I may want to take some Business classes to add to the education that I am gaining just by being in the workforce. I would like to marry the guy God has chosen for me and be a mom someday also.

Advice for the team

Work together for the team. Respect Coach as well as each other! Always play with a Christian attitude and remember to move your feet!

I joined the MCAC Wildcats when I was in seventh grade, back in 2005.

So this is my sixth year.

Favorite verse

My favorite verse is Psalms 94:2 “My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” I love this verse because it tells me how much madly, in-love, obsessed I need to be with God. This is how much I want to be with my Savior.

Words of advice for your team

My advice for the team would be to never give up. I've definitely had my share of difficulties these past five years. And I'm not gonna lie, more than once I've wanted to quit. But I never did. No matter how hard the season was, I never quit. And it ALWAYS proved to be worth it in the end. I'm gonna miss you guys!

Future plans

My future plans are to go to Bethel College and study youth ministry. I want to get my degree in that so I can be a youth pastor and help struggling teens in impoverished places in a big city like Chicago. I cannot WAIT to find out what other big things God has in store for me!

Seniors 2010

February 16, 2009

MCAC honored eight graduating seniors Tuesday, February 16 at Galien High School as the girl's varsity battled to victory against Andrews Academy and the boy's varsity won their game against the Niles Flames.

We asked seniors to answer a few questions for us to reflect on their time as a Wildcat. Below are their responses.

Played basketball for Wildcats
8 years. I have been in the Wildcats program since I was in the 6th grade, from the beginning of the program.

Future plans

My future plan is to attend Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I would like to get a degree in ministry and then come home and work on my art degree. I am hoping to be playing volleyball in the fall with GBC.

Favorite verse

I Corinthians 9:24 – 27

Do you no know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last: but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others. I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Favorite memory

There are a lot of memories to say but last year at nationals the curb was an awesome moment. :)

Words of advice for your team

Never give up and never quite anything in life because once you quite now you’ll quite later in life. I wish you guys good luck in the future play hard and always honor God.

Would like to thank

I would like to thank my parents and my whole family for having faith in me through the years. I would like to thank the coaches that helped me along in life and pushing me on the court. To my sisters: Cidney and Elyona Good luck next year and I promise I will try my best to come to the games. It was fun playing with you Cid on the court. You better score big and play hard for the years to come. I would like to thank my grandmas and grandpas and my aunts and uncles and cousins for believing in me and helping me along in life I love you guys very much. But all my thanks goes to God for creating me for a reason.

I am planning to attend a university next fall, but I have no idea where, and I don't know what I want to study...l eventually want to meet my prince charming and ride off into the sunset, but until then who knows?? I know God has a plan for me I'm just not sure what it is quite yet!

Favorite verse
James 1:2 - 4
Consider it pure joy, my bothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

I love this verse because it reminds me that trials will come but if I persevere God is always with me.

Favorite memory
I have so many good memories with the Wildcats that it's hard to pick just one! I think I'd have to say nationals last year...it's all about the curb.

Words of advice for your team
Ha, like I have any wisdom! Just always remember who you're playing for. Basketball is just a tool that you can use to draw people to Christ...oh, and would you PLEASE work the ball down low and quit chucking up three-pointers!? :)

Would like to thank
Everyone! I feel like one of those celebrities who just won an Oscar and then goes on thanking people for like five minutes straight, but I can't leave anyone out! I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play basketball and for dying on the cross for my sins. I want to thank my team for always being there. (And even occasionally passing me the ball!) My coach for never giving up on me, even when I can't catch anything and I miss a wide open layup! My family for driving across the continent and back every few days to watch my games. (And for putting up with my post-game analysis!) And, I especially want to thank my brother Jeff, who couldn't be here tonight. I probably wouldn't have been able to play for the Wildcats if it weren't for him. He drove me to practice for years, helped coach, helped me improve a bunch, coached summer basketball, went over all my games with me, and so much more. Finally, I want to thank the whole Wildcat program for being so welcoming end encouraging, I'm gonna miss you all!

Fun fact

Future plans

For the future, I plan to take a year off of school and work so I can save up for college.

Favorite verse

Mark 13:11

I like this verse because it talks about not being afraid to stand up for your faith. And really, who isn’t afraid to do that sometimes? In the passage though, Jesus tells his disciples that when they are given trouble because of Christ, they should worry because the Holy Spirit will tell them what to say.

Favorite memory

The may sound mean, but watching Robbie run up and down the court with tissues crammed up his nose after he broke it on the floor was pretty funny. Seeing Morgan score 12 points in that LaLumiere game was pretty awesome too.

Words of advice for your team

Be humble both on and off the court. Nobody likes a loudmouthed know-it-all who doesn’t always know what he’s talking about. Once you accept you don’t know anything, then maybe you’ll learn something.

Would like to thank

I would like to thank my parents (of course) for making this such a possibility for me, John and Mari Clark for doing such a wonderful job of coaching myself and the team, the Leichter’s, the whole JV team, and the list foes on and on…

Fun fact

I have a great sense of humor!

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

I like this verse because it is a good reminder that even though we cannot always understand why something happens the way it does, God knows.

Favorite memory

The LaLumiere game this season, where we all played well and together as a team, and we all played to the best of our abilities and were satisfied with our effort – and we won.

Words of advice for your team

Don’t be afraid to try new things, even when you are sure you don’t want to try them. They can turn out to be really good, challenging, fun experiences.

Would like to thank

I want to thank my parents for making me start basketball, because I would not have joined the MCAC Wildcats if they hadn’t made me. I want to thank my coaches and Jeff Joyce for being patient and helping me learn to make a layup and pushing me to get better. Favorite verse
Psalm 119:114

You are my refuge and my shield. I have put my hope in your word.

I like this because it tells me that I know that He is my protector, and He is my safe place. I have gone to Him so many times when I have needed comfort. Every time that I have prayed in the morning for a good day, He delivers. I find that living proof that he does exist and that He is there for me when I need him most.

Favorite memory

I can’t name any one memory from the Wildcats, but I have enjoyed being the manager of the Wildcats team. I don’t believe that I have ever been accepted anywhere more than I have been accepted here. I have found a large family of brothers and sisters who care about each other just as much as they care about the game and for God.

Words of advice for your team

Always believe in the Lord, because He will be there for you no matter what. He may not always answer every prayer, but He will be there no matter what.

Would like to thank

I definitely thank God for guiding my brother and I to this wonderful family. Being a part of the Wildcats team has shown me that there ARE people who care about me, and that there ARE others who believe so strongly in the name of the Lord. Also, I would like to thank my mom for having the patience to bring us to al lthe games and to work with the constantly changing schedule. Also, I would like to thank the coaches and the entrie Wildcats family who have so graciously accepted me and my brother. It means the world to me to see so many people react in such a kind and caring manner.

Then I will study basic agriculture for my last 2 years through Missouri State. I plan to come home to the family farm and help run it with my mom, grandparents and two brothers.

Favorite verse and why

Psalm 119:114

You are my refuge and my shield: I have put my hope in your word.

This is one of my favorite verses of the things that I have encountere3d in the past few months. I have learned that when I put my hope in the word of the Lord I will have a shield to protect me from all those that try and hurt me and my family. The word o the Lord will always prevail.

Favorite memory and why

Well there have been many wonderful memories made with the Wildcats. There is one that sticks out in my mind more than any other. I t was our first game against Granger Christian. We had taken the lead early and it was turning out to be a good game. Let in the game I hit a hot streak and we had just gotten possession of the ball and John John brought it down. I flashed to the top of the key and caught the pass. Wide open I lined up for the shot and right as I was ready to let it fly I hear Mr. Clark yell” don’t shoot it!!” I shoot it and I hear him yell never mind good shot! The same thing happens again. After the game was won, I approached Mr. Clark with a small grin. He puts his hand on my shoulder and said this, “I guess from now on I’m just going to tell you not to shoot it so that you will make it!” (That later proved not to work). Coach, I love you!

Words of advice for your team

No matter what life throws at you, don’t ever disown God. He will take care of you because He loves each and every one of us for who we are, He created us to be ourselves.

Would like to thank

God is number on e on my list of people to thank because He has been my rock to hold on to when everything was blowing away in my life. Mr. and Mrs. Clark you have always believed in me and that’s something that I am very thankful for. Thank you so much. To Tony and Sherri Triplet thanks for being on e of the biggest inspirations this season, it means a lot to see you guys in the crowd. Mom, for being a single mother o f3 you have really done an amazing job providing for all three of us kids and I know that I could never replace you r ever and I’m so thankful for everything you have given up for me and my brothers. I love you mom. Scotty you have given up so much for me and Neil throughout high school and life in general to help us whenever you could. When our dad left you more than filled the empty spot in our hearts that he left and for that I am forever grateful. Scotty, thank you for everything I love you so much.
