Rayna DoBrodt, from Mishawaka, IN has committed to play volleyball for Coach Spooner and joins one of the best recruiting classes ever for Tiger volleyball. Rayna, as the team MVP in her junior year, led the MCAC Wildcats to the Indiana Home school State Championship. That was the second year in a row for the Wildcats winning the state title and in her sophomore year they were National 3rd place finishers. Rayna led her team this year in kills and blocks, and was selected to the 2009 National All-Tournament team for the second year in a row. She was 2nd Team All-State as a senior and received the Esther Award for character in 2009.
Her father, Randy, who is the founder and director of all MCAC Wildcats sports says; “Rayna was the rock of our program. Steady player, hard worker and dedicated to the goal of team first, willing to help the younger players develop their skills. A leader on and off the court, starting a bible study with all team players. Rayna’s leadership will be missed, she has shown through hard work and lending a hand to help others that leadership is much more than scoring points and getting a kill.”
Coach Spooner notes, “We are very excited to have Rayna part of Grace athletics. She is a great example of recruiting athletes who seek to honor God with talent and yet see the bigger picture in living life with character and Christ like behavior. She is a tribute to her parents, coaches and teammates over the years. A versatile athlete on the front row playing both middle and left side, her leadership and competitive nature on court will give confidence to her teammates. She will have an immediate impact playing for the Tigers as well as overall quality of contribution on our campus.”
Rayna has expressed an interest in Youth Ministry, Missions and has creative talents she’d like to pursue in art.
